is a Massachusetts based cover band that brings a party atmosphere to acoustic music. Composed of local, experienced, full-band musicians that are tired of the coffee-shop, background music style that most acoustic bands deliver, Wood brings their full-band, high energy attitude to every performance. A Wood show is always a party, so come prepared to get crazy. This isn’t your grandmother’s acoustic band. Got Wood¿

ken monteiro
lead vocals, acoustic guitar

Currently working as a graphic designer, Ken (a.k.a. Kenbo) usually rocks out with his cover band Too Loud. Having a need to play more music and something “a little different”, he formed Wood with Ed and Jeff, his old buddies from Blind Spot along with Kurt, another graphic design buddy that he’s known for years. “I’m looking forward to getting a little more intimate with the audience and making the show one big party”.

jeff tropeano
acoustic guitar

After playing lead guitar with South Shore cover band “Blind Spot,” Jeff moved to New York City and worked writing and producing music for television, film, commercials, and soft-core pornography (really). Still living in New York City, but coming off of a 4 year hiatus from the music business, he is getting back to his guitar-playing roots with Wood. “I’m excited to get playing again, but not excited to try to squeeze into my old leather pants. Maybe I’m better off keeping those packed away....” Normally an electric lead guitar player, Jeff is looking forward to stripping down his favorite songs to rock the acoustic guitar.

ed dimarzio
bass guitar, vocals

Ed started in the music industry shortly after birth when he tooted his first, well you know. At the tender age of 4 he was given a large plastic medieval trumpet. If you ask his parents they will tell you he was a natural. His career really took off after that when he landed a gig with Jesus and the Knights Templar touring the medieval fair circuit. After years of drinking pints of ale, having his way with the wenches, and unintentionally being the village idiot, he grew tired of the music scene and went to Jr. High School. Ed soon found himself pigeon-holed into playing bass at the school talent show. This turn of event sculpted the rag tag “village idiot” into a wanna be rock star. Who would have thought Life In The Fast Lane-The Eagles, I Wanna Be Sedated- The Ramones, and Fight For Your Right To Party- The Beastie Boys could be so influential? Through Jr. and Senior High school Ed went from band to band, loving and growing with each “group” he was in. Honing his talents of flirting with the ladies and neglecting his school work, Ed found himself in danger of becoming a career High School student. Ed needed to ace a subject, -- enter the Show Choir era. Yes he did Show Choir. He sang Route 66 like there was no tomorrow and loved it. It was through Show Choir that Ed found his path. Ed’s senior year he was approached by a lowly freshman and asked if he would audition for his favorite local hairband. Ed did and became the bass player for the band Impact. No one rocked Derringers like they did. Being proud of his new popularity during his senior year Ed also auditioned for the high school production of Grease and landed the part of Doody, how fitting that his life started with doody as well. Ed spent the best teenage/ early 20’s years of his life in Impact loving the ladies while looking like a lady with his long hair. It all came crashing down around him when his best friend/ singer died. Ed took a well deserved rest. Several years went by and the itch to play turned into a disgusting rash that wouldn’t go away. While jamming with friends of his, Ed heard a horrible noise with a great guitar that wound up being his neighbor Jeff. Although he did a great job of Spirit Of The Radio- Rush, there was no helping them. Ed and his friends asked him to play and Blindspot was taking form, all they needed was a singer. Finding a singer is one of the hardest things to do and Kens’ audition was perfect. No one can screw up Let’s Go Crazy by Prince like Ken did. He was in and Blindspot hit the ground running selling out clubs after their second show. It was a great time and like all great times it had to end. Ed thought he was done, but the rash turned into syphilis, so Ed is stuck with it forever.

kurt remlinger
bongos, percussion, vocals

Kurt is a drummer/percussionist who has played in the local club scene for over 15 years with original and cover bands like Drifter East, 6 Foot Sunday and The Loco Locals. He has also been playing drums, cocktail kit, bongos and percussion with such artists as Justin Beech and Jeff Gilman of Two Ton Shoe, Ryan McHugh, and Greg Luttrell. Kurt started playing drums at age 8, and was a student of Dick & Dave DiCenso. Kurt studied percussion with Fred Buddha and Jeff Fischer at UMass Lowell before switching to become a graphic design major. Remlinger currently works in Boston as a graphic designer as well as playing on the local music circuit. “The song selection and Wood’s striving for something special and different is what makes this such a great experience for me,” says Kurt. “The musicality and top shelf attitude of Ken, Ed and Jeff, and the nakedness of Wood is going to open a lot of eyes as to how to approach a live performance.”
